Matt Sherwin at Sidewalk

Last night after some perogies at Odessa on Ave A, I saw Matt Sherwin at Sidewalk Cafe in the East Village. We followed this with "milkies" from the Holy Land grocery on St. Marks. All this was done with "Y" who bought me a pencil from that tzchochke store right next to Odessa.

Gasp! Have you never been to an Israeli grocery store in Israel?

Milkies are a cup of mostly choclate pudding with something like whipped cream on top. The one I bought came with these chocholate shards that you could mix in. I have since become a milky purist. There are also a few variations on it, I believe.

They are really good. In Israel I pretty much lived on: choco b'sakit, lahmaniot, and milki. (chocolate milk in a bag, rolls and milkis.)

a brief study on milkies:
the best place to get milkies is the mini makolet in ma'aleh adumim. next best:anywhere else in israel
the best place to get milkies in brooklyn:
holon on kings highway and then you can also get some great bourekas to bring home. (not bereccas!!!!!!!!)
best milkie flavors in order:
chocolate with cream (but you have to really lick the cream off the foil lid)
coffee with cream (same with the cream)
since i'm a huge chocoholic, i have never ventured any further with the milkie study since nothing else could ever compare.

study of orange soda:
miranda orange takes the cake any day over everything else. it tastes especially good if you're with a cute boy overlooking tzfat.

Not Bereccas, eh?

And, yes, I totally forgot the licking the cream off the foil lid. VERY important. Almost a worthless experience without it.

;D

and with all the attention to detail, you forgot the foil???? i, for one, karl, am shocked.
and the most awesome part is when the cream accidentally gets on the tip of your nose. or at the very end of the milki experience when you're greedily trying to get every last bit of chocolate out, and there's always the little bit that you miss but you know would easily come out if you just used your finger but you can't because there are OTHER people around who probably wouldn't understand anyway and think something like "what's the big deal, it's just kozy shack or something," and those are precisely the people who you just want to kick in the head for ruining the milki experience.

You understand the milki experience.

i don't just understand the milki experience, i have lived it.

hahahaha, i was about to write:
i am the human embodiment of the milki experience but i can't even imagine what i mean by that.
